Our 2024 program runs from June 23rd to August 10th, 2024.

DEADLINES AND OTHER NOTICES

• Applications are due by April 16th.
• Work/Study scholarships and notification of acceptance into the program via email and/or phone will be by the end of April.
• Non-refundable Placeholder Deposit of $500.00 due within 5 days of notification payable by credit/debit card or E-check only (we will send an online invoice via email or you may pay over the phone). You will have a chance to review your work/study scholarship offer of admission before paying this deposit. If you qualify for a full "need-based" scholarship (typically restricted to low-income applicants for your household's county), you may request a reduced placeholder deposit.
• The remaining balance is payable via check or money order (received in the mail by the deadline), E-Check, or credit/debit card by May 18. Paying the remaining balance further reserves your spot in the program. It is non-refundable, especially in cases where it's unreasonably close to the deadline to find an applicant to take your spot.
• Includes single and multiple occupancy accommodations in cottages that may change during the session at the discretion of MGSoA (we will not adjust the rate based on the nature of the accommodations). Single occupancy rooms are usually allocated by age and other confidential factors.
• Deposits and application fees are non-refundable.
• No refunds for withdrawing from the program after it has started.

COSTS AND OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
 

• The full program cost of $5100 includes instruction, lectures, program food, housing, bus trips, and more. As a cooperative environment students of the program are required to stay in program housing and accept the food plan (we will do our best to accommodate dietary needs).
• An additional $75 NY Trip hotel fee is due on or before arrival.
• A $150 studio and housing caution deposit is also due on or before arrival and may be returned all or in part after a successful inspection is performed (housing and studios must be clean and free of damage beyond normal wear and tear). This deposit may be withheld for other reasons that incur expenses to the school such as those related to student behavior or negligence.
• If you live nearby and provide your own food and accommodations, you may request a commuter agreement allowing you to stay off-campus.
• Your non-refundable $500 placeholder deposit is applied toward your remaining balance. If your placeholder deposit plus your scholarship amount exceeds the cost of the program, then the difference will be returned to you on the successful completion of the program.
• Scholarship awards are allocated on a combination of need and merit. A financial need survey is required for need-based scholarships. Merit-based scholarships are available to all who apply. 
• Need-based awards are available to low and middle-income domestic applicants (DACA students are considered domestic by MGSoA and in certain cases, refugee status may also be considered domestic). Income levels are determined based on the county in which your household resides. Low-income students typically receive between 75 to 100% awards, and Middle-income students typically receive between 25 to 75%. Many individual applicant variables can impact our need-award assessment, in addition to MGSoA's available scholarship funding.
• Merit-based awards of up to 50% tuition are available to upper-income and international students
• Currently, need-based scholarships are not available to international students due to difficulties verifying household income outside the US. However international students may still be eligible for merit-based awards up to 50% of tuition.
• All offers of admission require up to 10 hours of program and housing-related service per week except in the case of co-op/leader assignments which are not hourly positions.
• All students accepted to the program are required to perform the same level of program work-study service assignments whether or not they receive or accept a financial award.
• If you are interested in your classes at MGSoA being applied to fulfill requirements in your major, minor, or General Education.  Please research your institution's credit requirements thoroughly before seeking credit approval.  With the appropriate form of approval from your home institution, you will receive an evaluation from us upon completion of coursework.  MGSoA has assembled an "all-star" group of faculty from Colleges, Universities, and Art Schools nationwide including independent visiting artists, lecturers, and critics. We seek applications from students whose first goal is to benefit from the excellence of our program and do not see course credit as a make-or-break factor in their participation.  That said we are happy to help students interested in this option as best we can.

      *Currently our main studio space does have a built-in wheelchair ramp and accessible bathroom, however, this historic structure may not meet every ADA standard. Similarly, we have at least one cottage that is wheelchair accessible. We will make every effort to provide reasonable accommodations to students with a disability requiring reasonable accommodation. We may be able to upgrade other ADA standards with advance notice.
